To keep AI out of her classroom, this high school English teacher went analog
Forth Worth teacher Chanea Bond says sticking with pen and paper keeps generative artificial intelligence out of her American literature classes.
I’ve also gone analog in my advanced undergrad seminar on identity this quarter. Students keep reading/seminar notebooks—questions, confusions, insights—and complete several field exercises, including a “seeing identity in the world” task.

I think you have to be in a diner in a rural area in the vicinity of soybean fields for that to happen.

Disagree here. China can show, same with Saudis. The USSR did. The Olympics call us to transcend. if there's a policy on murderous secret police, sure; if not, nations can bring security.

Wicker Park was...different then. I remember stepping over junkies on the street from time to time, and buying records off some others. I scored a solid Neil Diamond Glory Road. Yes--I saw it from the El one day and *had* to go. What brought you there? DM and reminisce if you wish....

Oh I think I may love you. I hung out there a lot in 94/95/96 and have magical stories of the place. The owner would put on a cup of coffee when I came in. OMG. So many great hours--Zen and the art or...; Still Life with Woodpecker; etc. Thanks for the smile this morning :)

Being able to skate to where the puck is going requires discernment, and this discernment is the essential skill of punditry. It is no small part of being a politician or community organizer, either.

I'm optimistic it will get there. Slowly. Painfully slowly. In fits and starts. After many, many committee meetings. And national elections. In a way that ages me. But I suspect it will get there. (Plus tbh do you want a unified, focused, efficient Europe? There's real downside risk!)

Russia is a threat, but a manageable one. Low GDP (2.5Tn), petrostate, aging infrastructure, after four years mired in Ukraine (god bless Ukraine). Belligerent, yes, a massive set of ill-maintained nukes, sure, but nowhere near a great power. The EU can easily protect itself.

Thank you for sharing! We need to listen to, and acknoweldge, how correct the shrill were, the premature antifascists were, a decade ago. When the Atlantic was wrong. And seek them out and listen to them more--and employ them in journals/magazines/media/newspapers.
