We kids were in awe at the time. 'Human aquariums' and plastic parrots created a magical world for us.
There was an ice cream parlour in the building we'd stop at on the way out. knickerbocker glory was my favourite - they were enormous!

Exhibition @ Custom House now closed - a final reflection.
Old Riverside Club was venue for birthdays & other night revelries late 70s early 80s. I seem to recall the hall was balconied as seen in additional photo (📷link). Name resurrected. True multi-use!

In the balance, can the UK passport office deliver ahead of booked flights?
Broadly:
•1: Clear evidence of poor communication
•2: wrong policy to place dual-nationals in a more onerous position than non-nationals
•3: questions now arising on airline implementation practices
Jerusalem?: Something of the Satanic Mills about it.
Absolutely! 2 daughters, one with 2 kids, have flights booked to visit me in UK at Easter. Jeopardy realised when recently published in The Guardian. Now scrambling to get British passports for the 2 kids. Adds more bureaucracy/cost for dual nationals to enter UK than non-nationals. Utterly wrong!
Those boxes on the floor are back-breaking for grandparents but yes, of course, spot-on for children and a great touch. What a child selects is a window on their unique imagination.
The TV repair man (Radio Rentals) was a regular visitor to our home, so much so, he seemed to us children almost one of the family. I seem to recall the early TVs were dinky & took quite some time to come to life, I suppose because the valves had to initially warm to a certain operating temperature.

1st April - really?
Libraries are heart & soul of communities, a real-world social space the young especially value. Exeter has realised the need for community hubs in Heavitree & Wonford; has ambitions to be a vibrant cultural centre. We should recognise & support libraries valuable role in promoting societal cohesion

Superb & fascinating. So, 📷#1 shows the spa as Anne Brontë would visit. And, the bridge that can be seen is that which she would have walked across to reach the spa (pictured in linked post).
📽️We seem to be having a Brontë moment just now.
Footwear on display in this photo triggered an immediate flashback for me. Those front zip-up shoes/boots must have been fashionable late 50s - early 60s.

St. Enodoc, Cornwall. It has been slowly sinking in the sand for years. It's where Sir John Betjeman is buried, resting in timeless tranquility.

💬'Brazil [leader of Devon County Council] said the road was "very much part of our history down here in the South Hams".'
Very true & relatable as part of my personal history too. This now part of the 'can/can't we save' balancing act set to replay into the future.

The Torcross/Slapton A379 road washed away overnight. Beach level drop (6 mtrs) over last 20 years was causing this to look very fragile.
This is such a familiar old family route of ours from the 60s/70s. Headed towards Dartmouth for ice creams. Now another sad loss.
#2 The Vortex
The tower as pivot.
I find it interesting to discover that early toy manufacturer Triang once made a pedal car version of this car model. I'm well amused at finding that. Did Ford lean on Triang? This subliminal messaging is likely to be just another conspiracy theory for the books!

'How winter storms are rapidly reshaping our coastline' [Featured: Torcross & Slapton]
💬"This is going to become increasingly common," Masselink says of the erosion seen at Torcross and Slapton beaches.
Worryingly much of our UK coastline under threat from erosion.
Make a stand!
I've always thought it rather perverse that females aren't black. 😉 Of course the point is one should always question everyday norms and it isn't always appropriate to conform. However, I feel one has to admit the male has a good song.
She's disguised as a cabbage.

💨Teignmouth taking a battering from Storm Ingrid. Sadly outer portions of the pier lost. Also, new railway storm defences being pushed to the limit and in part failing.
Visit to #killertonhouse #nationaltrust 22nd December 2025.
An impressive early start to the snowdrop season. Quite sure there will now be plenty more to see. Must get 🚴♂️ing.

There appears to be some form of rather unusual circular colonnade in the far distance.
