Among all the Christian traditions, especially those in the Protestant sphere, Anglicanism stands out for its cultivation of the arts. While the reason is anyone's guess, Anglicans have a legacy of celebrated artists, writers, and poets:

We Believe: Who Has Spoken Through the Prophets Due to the issue of Marcionism, the bishops at Constantinople in 381 added that the Holy Spirit β€œhas spoken through the prophets.”

"In words too often overlooked by Christians, Jesus proclaimed in his Sermon on the Mount that we are not to think that 'I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them' (Matthew 5:17)."

We Believe: One Baptism for the Forgiveness of Sins In our confession of one baptism for the forgiveness of sins, we confess something really true about ourselves and God's love for us.

In the broader Christian tradition, baptism has two distinct but overlapping meanings: repentance and rebirth. Reflect on the Nicene Creed's statement "One Baptism for the Forgiveness of Sins" in Alex Fogleman's latest article:

The Liturgical Home: The Feast of St. Francis Ashley Wallace tells us about the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi and gives us ways of celebrating, including almond cookies.

On October 4th, the Church celebrates the Feast of Saint Francis of Assisi, one of the most beloved and well-known saints in Christian history. On his feast day, we honor his deep connection to God, love of nature, and call to serve the poor.

Almighty and everlasting God,
the only worker of great marvels,
send down upon your servant Sarah,
called to be Archbishop of Canterbury,
and all who are committed to her care,
the spirit of your saving grace,
and that they may truly please you,
pour upon them the continual dew of your blessing.
Grant this, O Lord,
for the honour of our advocate and mediator,
Jesus Christ.
Amen.

Grave Naiskos of an Enthroned Woman with an Attendant, circa 100 BC.

Alternate Title: Gravestone of a Woman with Her Attendant.

On this funerary marble relief, a woman reaches out to lift the lid of a thin box held by an attendant. She sits on an elaborate, high-backed chair with a turned leg decorated with lions' paws and an arm support in the form of an eagle. She also wears snake bracelets, presumably gold, on her upper and lower arms.

The thin open box held by the attendant raises several questions. The two holes apparent on its base are evidence of an ancient repair, perhaps in the form of two metal pins intended to hold a now lost marble component in place.

On view at Getty Villa, Gallery 111, The Hellenistic World.

Households of Faith A Holistic Vision of Family in God's Kingdom The Christian world tends to have a blueprint for what families should look like, and these models of the family can be hard to live up to. In some

Christian parents & caregivers, if you're watching things unfold in the US & realizing you don't know how to guide children thru this moment, you're not alone. I don't have "the answers" but my book offers language to name reality, a new paradigm, & encouragement.

We Believe: Who With the Father and the Son is Worshiped and Glorified The Holy Spirit is β€œworshiped and glorified” together with the Father and the Son, both corporately and equally.

β€œWho with the Father and the Son, he is worshiped and glorified” Why is this in the creed? It solves a problem: there is no reference in the Bible to the adoration of the Holy Spirit as God. But, if the Holy Spirit is God (and He is), then He must be.

We Believe: And His Kingdom Will Have No End This line from the Nicene Creed, β€œand his kingdom will have no end,” is a simple case of Old Testament continuity and fulfillment.

We continue our We Believe series on the Nicene Creed with "And His Kingdom Will Have No End." Joe Colletti (aka "Young Anglican") ruminates on what the idea of God's kingdom means for us:

1/ There is nothing that demonstrates Christian Nationalism-driven American Evangelicalism as clearly as a man with a Cross on his back ... with a wheel underneath it to make the load easier to carry.

2/ The Cross of Christ is heavy enough that it requires ALL of our being to lift it and follow Jesus. The bloody Cross of Christ weighs as much as the whole world it holds up to God. It weighs as much as every soul, put together, it exists to reunite with Christ.

23.09.2025 18:42 β€” πŸ‘ 18    πŸ” 1    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

3/ The Cross will always be heavy, onerous, and foreign to those who hold Caesar's scepter and sword. The hands that relinquish the sword and Caesar's staff will find its weight changes as Christ takes up the burden.

23.09.2025 18:42 β€” πŸ‘ 16    πŸ” 2    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

4/ A Cross on a wheel is a perfect metaphor for those who try to performatively carry the Cross, but make the load light, artificially.
