Thank you everyone for your suggestions. I’ve joined the Clergy Clutter group, asked our local ordinands group, emailed the diocese admin who looks after ordinands who’s emailed about one being for sale in the past, emailed my DDO, and checked eBay. That’s enough for today!

Once again, Merlin is not picking up owl friend. Have flagged the recording. This time is much closer so I’m not sure why it isn’t being picked up.

I have put a call out into the local ordinands group just in case anyone has anything suitable.

I may ask try asking round the local ordinands group to see if anyone else’s church has one I can borrow though.

I’m training locally and our benefice doesn’t have any as spares. This one was one the vicar had when she was first ordained.

This is my thinking. I remember last time I had something seriously adjusted that the tailor warned me it’s often easier and cheaper to adjust suiting that’s too small than too big.

Dragged myself to church this morning, really wasn’t feeling it.

In the end was a lovely service, chaos level 0/10 (rare but welcome 😁).

Met some people interested partnering with us for eco church. Had a good chat with our retired SSM about the positives of the freedom the role offers you.

Watching videos of police dragging away grannies for holding an anti genocide bit of card, thinking about the time the Met buried reports that one of their officers was a predator, then after he used police ID to kidnap, rape & murder a woman, they then arrested women for holding a vigil for her.

I LOVE THESE!! I haven't seen them in years but they're a real highlight of driving in France and Germany.

The difficulty I have is I don’t cope well in things that are much too big for me - I’m small and if stuff it too big I look like a child wearing grown up clothes and it does funny things to my confidence. So getting it right is a worthwhile investment.

So, I’ve been offered a cassock that approximately three sizes too big. Next step is to take it to the dry cleaners and find out if it will cost more to adjust than to buy my own. It will need taking up by about eight inches, but the shoulders are also very wide, and padded.

Hard agree. To be honest, it’s an old idea rolled out at various points by various members of minority groups. Disabled people. People of colour. You can’t ’nice’ yourself into being accepted by a main stream society that denies you exist and have human rights. Respectability politics isn’t equity.

It’s maddening when *you* can hear what you suspect is an owl calling, and the Merlin app (which is generally very good) suggests something off the wall because the sound is just out of your phone’s mic range. Reasonably certain it isn’t a Black Tailed Godwit.

I think I’ve found people are very nervous (understand) to hand anyone else their phone in case it’s taken. I guess it depends on the area you’re in at the time.
