The old trees wear their ghosts
gray beards of moss
hanging from limbs.
I walk through centuries,
through silence so thick
it has a pulse.
The lake blinks blue
through the tangle,
a secret the forest
almost kept from me.
Here, time does not pass.

Whoa so cool that it takes place close to where you grew up!! I didn't realize they had changed the location of the book for the English version, but honestly I wish they hadn't. Set in the Netherlands is so much better in every way. I wonder what else kind of got lost in the translation 👀
