If reading is the most significant area of our provision, then why are we still relying on paper test scores and assessments to evaluate how well we do it?

Outwardly staying cool, but switching from serious meetings, complaining parents and grumbles - to holding court with sentimental and witty moments for everyone
The sheer intensity of shifting situations, trying to be all things, to all people

Just great to be outside. Such a tonic. #Yorkshire #holmfirth
I knew I was a proper Headteacher when the staff texted me at 6:30am to ask if the school was closed due to snow.

Really pleased with our new PE Leadership toolkit. After using the Sport Premium to make some great improvements, it becomes difficult to find ways to sustain improvement, with your PE leader knowledgeable and supported.
An innovative use of the Sport Premium funding.
So the children arrive in September, and they can’t read or write.
And then they leave in July, and they can read and write.
How do those wonderful Early Years people even do that?

A great visual to encourage a little bit of risk taking, and also to not dwell on mistakes.
A fantastic illustration for the classroom. The idea that errors and mistakes are a valuable part of learning. The fear of failure, appearances or not meeting their own expectation is common in classrooms.
Once you start being attuned to them, they spring up all over the place.
Something else to try - when you go to bed, mentally list all the things that you are grateful for/enjoyed/bought you joy that day. I always fall asleep before running out of ideas and it makes me wake up in a better mood too
I'm looking at this as we apply a little reset and start the term with fresh eyes.
It's the 'Look for Joy' I see.
All of those years driving home and trying to manage the negative bias.
Maybe a conscious effort to tune into all of the positives can be the way.
