the "born this way" narrative in defense of queerness/transness inherently alienates those who don't feel that they were born that way as well as rely on the assumption that no one would ever choose to be queer/trans. as if queerness/transness should be only accepted with guilt and shame.

it IS a choice to be queer or trans. the environment that may make you more likely to make that choice may not be your choice, in fact to some extent it never is. but queer/trans liberation is precisely about freedom to choose how to live and relate to the world as queer/trans. that's a good thing!

It's funny when writers are like, "It was important to show that men can be close without being gay." I know the idea is providing a safe space for straight guys to be close. But I'm not sure I buy that you can do that separate from breaking down the need to not be gay. I'm just not convinced

remember that fascists are willing to lie, manipulate and gaslight whenever and however it suits their aims, including their desire to aim at you. that's why it's pointless to engage them with the assumption that they care about the truth of this world. they know they're rotten and proud of it.

i highly recommend that everyone reads walter benjamin for further insight into what it means to revolt against fascism. he is one of my biggest inspirations. "theses on the philosophy of history" is a good start.

fascism is on track to spreading everywhere, manifesting both as actual regimes and in the effects those regimes have everywhere else. in other words, fascism is reaching towards every last part of the world. so there is no escape from fascism except in destroying it directly wherever it shows up.
