“awful people don’t deserve to be killed, but they don’t deserve to be praised, either” is apparently a thought too complex for the pundit mind

08.07.2025 09:36 — 👍 4 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0One time I paid for a can of coke and FIVE came out! I was a teenager on holiday in the US and that remains one of my best memories of it (even though we did lots of other cool stuff that my parents probably spent a fortune on 😂)
08.07.2025 08:08 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0Thank you. I am angry with the Labour govt for various things, so it’s good to be reminded that it’s not all bad. I don’t feel they are doing a v good job of communicating this really. I voted for them but spend most of my time lately wondering why!

17.06.2025 09:31 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0To make it fair it should be based on household income surely? My in laws will get it despite living in a very valuable large 4 bed house and living v comfortably, but my dad won’t as he is a widower with good pension but fewer assets than in laws (he doesn’t need it either btw, but seems unfair).

Exactly this! It’s no so luxurious when there’s six of you in a room. They aren’t sitting in fluffy bath robes being brought breakfast in bed.

31.03.2025 08:22 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0I’m from the UK and used to visit the US fairly regularly. I also have family there. Sadly I would feel very apprehensive about visiting the US now. There is a whole world of great alternative destinations out there. Given the choice, I think many people will give the US a miss now.
