R.C.V. is the only fair way to elect candidates in a field of more than two choices. It prevents the least popular candidate from winning. (the "spoiler" effect) That is why republicans are so dead set against it.
One problem with the Democratic party is that they do too much whining, and not enough doing. Another is that constantly resist removing their "old guard", and supporting their younger, more progressive candidates.
