I have spent the last two years running an afterschool program teaching people social skills and self-improvement strategies through learning how to play fighting games together. And I can tell you, with absolute conviction and confidence, that everything this person says is pure bullshit.

If you think they’re going to have a good time racing one another & learning how to improve their control of their chosen vehicle without understanding the fundamental basics of how their chosen vehicle is driven, then you quite literally have the game fucked up. I don’t know what else to tell you.

And if you’re not introducing a new player to the concept of normals and spacing as your first order of business when teaching how to play fighting games, you’re basically neglecting to teach them how to understand the relationship between the steering wheel & acceleration / brake pedals in a car.
