Cassie Premo Steele and Stephanie Laterza, who published early in her career through Cassie’s Birthing the Mother Writer column at Literary Mama, and is now the author of several books, including Verás (Broadstone Books, 2023): Her debut full-length poetry collection, which focuses on social justice, examining topics such as ICE, police violence, and intergenerational trauma. The collection, whose title translates to "You'll See" in English, draws on the poet’s Italian-Ecuadorian heritage and mixes English and Spanish to explore personal and universal grief.

In this 4-session class, participants will learn concrete strategies to cope with and heal from their anxiety and grief in a world that feels increasingly difficult to navigate due to climate crises. Based on twenty years of work as an author and teacher on the themes of environmental awareness, trauma, healing, and creativity, Dr. Cassie Premo Steele will teach a variety of lessons that will create a safe and nurturing space for participants to hold their emotions around environmental destruction while also learning creative ways to self-regulate so new forms of connection and community can begin to grow.

In light of Kristi Noem’s testimony, I’m re-upping this piece about the murder of Renee Good.

I proudly wore a badge for almost my entire adult life; I’m not someone unsympathetic to law enforcement, to say the least. Consider what it means, then, when I support this sentiment: Abolish ICE.
