The Blair Witch Project taking place in Frederick County, but mostly being filmed in Montgomery County, feels like some kinda fraud

Worth a shot! I think darker roasts and coarser grinds are also supposed to help

That's genuinely a healthy amount of coffee.

Though for whatever reason, I think french press may cause less heartburn because the more lipids stay in the coffee? Give it a shot.

I think learning SQL and SAS, I'll learn enough to add to the resume. So I can jump in when needed.

R will be to get as good as I am at Stata.

This is more for "meeting job requirement" purposes. But I figure R is for long term growth

It's old, but I still see jobs that require it

I already know Stata well, so SQL going first is for database management purposes assuming that comes in handy.

No strong preferences on R vs SAS, but it seems SAS is bigger for work on clinical research?

In all likelihood, this would just lead to worse roads and more debt

The funny thing is there's nothing stopping you from doing this stuff if you are a decent parent.

Also...nothing is stopping a grown ass adult from going ice skating, going to the park, or whatever. That's on you, pal

"War is mankind's most tragic and stupid folly; to seek or advise its deliberate provocation is a black crime against all men. Though you follow the trade of the warrior, you do so in the spirit of Washington -- not of Genghis Khan. For Americans, only threat to our way of life justifies resort to conflict."
Graduation Exercises at the United States
Military Academy, 6/3/47
"Possibly my hatred of war blinds me so that I cannot comprehend the arguments they adduce. But, in my opinion, there is no such thing as a preventive war.
Although this suggestion is repeatedly made, none has yet explained how war prevents war. Worse than this, no one has been able to explain away the fact that war creates the conditions that beget war."
Remarks at Carnegie Institute, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, 10/19/50 [DDE's Pre-Presidential Papers, Principal File, Box

Was browsing the Eisenhower Library site this morning trying to find a quote I remembered.

President Eisenhower, WW2 military hero:

“In my opinion, there is no such thing as a preventive war… none has yet explained how war prevents war.”

Didn't the Ukraine war exacerbate inflation, though?

OTOH people watch Fight Club and aspire to be explicitly the thing that's critiqued. So, I'm okay

And I assume maybe in a large series of data sets, you'd need to be very specific in the data cleaning part of the job? And make sure it understands the type of tests you are doing?

Like say doing a two part model that's a probit then an OLS that goes into a DID.

A friend of mine thinks Claude will make data science largely about asking Claude the right question, knowing what data to give it, and knowing how to kick the tires.

Screenshot of an X post from Headquarters quoting figure skater Alysa Liu speaking about noticing faults in the U.S. government and supporting immigrant rights. The embedded image shows Liu smiling during an interview, wearing a Team USA jacket with a U.S. flag patch, seated against a backdrop with stars and red, white, and blue colors.

What a remarkable young woman.

I guess this boades well for whenever I need to teach myself how to code more languages than just Stata. Or at least to help troubleshoot.

My wife and I watch the Pitt. I can't imagine reading it as holding suffering people in contempt. If anything I find it a bit too didactic and in your face woke at times.
