Yes this is typical. And if you proceed up to turn right into Charterhouse St you are stuck at a two phase right turn with no visible signal, because the temporary lights are behind you.

Meanwhile Fore St (part of north south cycle route thru City) is completely closed with a plethora of signs but not one indication of where to go if you are on a bike.

2/ ... for anyone thinking of complaining:
i) London is these kids' city too, they entitled to enjoy it;
ii) many of us would prefer these kids to burn off energy and build relationships doing this sort of stuff rather than things more prejudicial to their well-beings.

This is on a designated #cycleroute from #Blackfriars to #OldSt and beyond. Given #Smithfield is going to be a building site for prob yrs why is there no designated diversion for #cycling. As a non commuter it was seriously dangerous/counterintuitive to navigate.

2/ Traffic surveys by the City of London report that bicycles are the most numerous mode of vehicular traffic over the bridges in to the City.

A few folk enjoying London's cycleway #CS6/ #C6 this morning as they commute towards the City of London over Blackfriars Bridge.
Weather this morning was 4 °C and moist.

Looks like the left side of this view should become a one-way cycle track with the one on the right also made such.

East-west #CS3 was built on Embankment/ Thames St as they are TfL controlled red routes.
Arguably, Whitehall, Strand, Fleet, St Pauls, Cannon St would be a network-richer route but would never get support from local councils.
#CS3 is overly congested because WCC/City have no other E-W quality route

I think it's worth highlighting how little car traffic there is inside and around the congestion charge zone during the day

Well, if the drivists aren't going to use the four lanes built for them, suppose someone else will have to use them.

One cycle lane, two types of loading bays
The first one allows for physical protection and even a truck does not impact any traffic
The second one is lazy design, incompatible with wand protection and blocks the whole lane when in use
Good design matters!
