I hate to be the one to point this out to @apsphysics.bsky.social news, but didn't this become common knowledge after the seminal work of Ace Ventura on the Ray Finkle case way back in 1994

Having followed it as it was written and knowing the hard work that was poured into it, really brings a smile to one's face to see it highlighted.
Yes to detecting entanglement using thermodynamics!
Is it casual I wonder?

Big thanks to all the speakers and attendees
It's been 3 months but I finally got through posting the recordings from our QIST in the CSU workshops. The recordings don't do the discussions justice. Hopefully, these are useful to folks interested in learning #quantum info science and tech and get it in their courses.

Typing with a bandaged finger is (unsurprisingly) extremely frustrating and slow.
In related news, knife safety and personal protective equipment is important and should not be ignored, even if "it's just one piece of drywall and a small cut"
It's unfortunate, though, as there is so many resources gathering dust and going to waste that could really be put to good use if there were simpler ways to transfer ownership

I expect the most challenging part of what your describing is that anything in academic lab is uni property, and I expect the administrative load related to selling it is going to be too much for it to be worth it

who am I kidding, we don't have resources to support the committee. We definitely don't have resources to get people to consider following the advice in any output. But hey, at least took time away from the people who were doing it to begin with.
11.07.2025 04:35 — 👍 2 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0Seriously though, can you serve on this committee that takes your time away from doing a thing to help discuss (and maybe at some point write down) how to be good at doing the thing?
It's going to be really impactful bc ...

This is the third year of our DOE RENEW project, and likely to be the last time I'll get to host these workshop so it was a bit bittersweet. Fingers crossed we can get more funding to continue these.

A shark can swim faster than a human, but a human can run faster than a shark, so in a triathlon it comes down to who's the better cyclist.
An oscilloscope screen showing a signal that goes back and forth between a 1 mV amplitude to a 2.5 mV amplitude every 4 seconds.
Today for shits and giggles, I took a BNC cable Jerry-rigged a loop out of it and plugged it into a scope to see what I'd pick up in my lab.
What the hell would cause this? Like a clock, every 4 seconds jumps amplitude. The underlying signal is ~171 kHz

Obviously, yes. Your collection is great. I love quantum stickers. I need to get one of those "quantum, eh" stickers. Where's it from?
