I commissioned @laurabeltran2001.bsky.social to do a 3D model for my Twitch/Discord bot, a weird McNugget Buddy OC named "Emcee Nuggie", to turn her into a Bonzai Buddy desktop pet for streams.

It turned out fantastic, if you're looking for 90s CGI-style graphics, they do a great job

It’s “free” (with the higher tier subscription) so it’s not awful but it is likely going to lack the enhancements All Stars gave it.

Mario 64 didn’t have much new for All Stars so not much is lost via NSO, which is bizarre considering the fan recompilations, could have given us widescreen at least

I don’t like the idea that Sunshine is lost to time again now, wish they had just rereleased 3D All Stars with Galaxy 2 “DLC”. If they’re gonna sell Galaxy 1 and 2 separately, sell Sunshine separately too

I loved the concept of amiibo, having figures of every character like in Melee seemed so cool but I dreaded the idea of getting every one at $12-13. When they went up in price I dealt with it because I just wanted to finish the collection. I will not spend $30-40 per amiibo, give me Merth at $13

Even Knuckles essentially the same post-Adventure. Frontiers made it seem he never leaves Angel Island bouncer duty but he was around all the time without significant explanation.

I guess Knuckles had several explorations of his backstory, his first game didn’t defeat his purpose of existence

If you pirate Pokémon Black because it’s $200, I understand but still own it.

If you pirate Pokémon Box because it’s $2000, I do too.

If you make art and sell it, what difference does it make where the art goes? If I made a song and sold it on iTunes vs. thinking “this would be cool in a Sonic game”, who cares if I charged a few bucks for a mod?

There’s Twitter drama about ethics in charging for Smash Bros. Melee mods and don’t understand how general consensus is that it’s bad in any context.

Most people emulate the game for free, why care about their IP now? If the worry is Nintendo might overstep and crackdown on mods then blame Nintendo

I’m rambling but the reverse is true too. We used to get cool Mario ports like All-Stars, Deluxe, and Advance but now they just throw a rom in an emulator and it’s mostly playable. It’s unfortunate the best versions of every classic Mario game have screen-crunch that a modern port could easily fix

The average gamer seeing Sonic Mania on Dreamcast probably wouldn’t think much of it. It’s deliberately designed to look like a Genesis game with a Saturn facelift, of course it should run on “stronger” hardware, but it uses modern methods to pull that retro aesthetic off, it isn’t a Saturn game

It also had to be incredibly optimized to function, it existed out of restriction. Now you can recreate the feel of “retro” games without any deep hardware knowledge.

Doom can run on a fridge, but if I had to guess retro-inspired games like Undertale or Shovel Knight would chug on similar hardware

Sometimes it feels kinda weird like I’m making a fanfic about myself but the only real difference between this and what a lot of YouTubers do is popularity.

There’s needs to be more unashamed creativity on the internet, it’s what made websites like Geocities, MySpace, and deviantArt so charming

People already think Facebook and Amazon target ads based on private conversations, imagine what they could do if they have your driver’s license or a 3D face scan of you because you had to prove you’re old enough to buy an R rated movie or watched a video with a little too much cleavage or swearing

Equifax leaked our identities, Facebook sold our information, Google targeted ads at kids, AI was trained on our content. They got a slap on the wrist at most.

The government doesn’t care about kids or privacy, it’s only a matter of time before these age checks get leaked or used for profit

Maybe the current administration drove me nuts but Illuminati-like conspiracy nonsense started sounding more and more real. It feels like companies have info the public doesn’t know or they were pressured into this. You’d think legal private purchases shouldn’t matter as long they profit off it

I definitely get that some stuff gets so individually dissected it almost loses meaning or becomes so “this or that” it turns people against one another. There needs to be less absolutes and more gray areas sometimes in life

I get it’s not media specific but I like certain things having specific labels because it makes discovering similar stuff easier. Having a subgenre like arcade shooter, rogue-like or Metroidvania helps narrow specific interests more then just third person shooter or platformer

I swear as a kid I remembered words to Sonic 1’s title but I feel like it’s something my dumbass misremembers and made when I was 9

Fan games and mods are cool but I wish I could experience Chao at its peak with friends, barely anyone I knew growing up liked Sonic. I want a new Chao Garden with even a fraction of social media presence Animal Crossing and Pokémon have with everyone sharing their unique creations and play throughs

I personally can’t think of many opportunities in gaming fumbled nearly as bad.

Games like Crash and Spyro had a couple dud games that put their series on hiatus but the Chao Garden never even had a chance to potentially suck, it peaked from the start and they decided to never touch it again

It’s been said a million times but what is with Sega killing off the Chao Garden? Usually a franchise or genre end from low sales, Sonic Adventure 2 was the best selling 3rd party GameCube game and was salvaged from a console that killed their hardware business, how isn’t that worth following up on?

Both had 2FA, I thought my computer was infected but I turned it off after Amazon said I bought a $4500 MacBook and the Discord stuff happened after so I don’t know. I changed my email/password on several accounts, wiped my Chrome data, and doing some malware scans. Hopefully it’s enough

I'm only asking for the sake of curiosity but what do you consider Unleashed on PS2 and Wii? Like you said earlier I also wouldn't count Game Gear Sonic 1 and 2 or handheld Colors and Generations, but Unleashed is a weird one
