@RantyHighwayman The tiniest crop of anything I ever harvested was off my coffee tree.
Four or five cherries. Not enough for even a single cup of coffee.

@keefeglise Which in turn might be outweighed by all the friends and family members who are never going to fly KLM again because it isn't worth the risk of getting stranded.

@keefeglise They're having to pay out for a more expensive flight on a different route, and a hotel, and β¬600 cash. That must surely be a loss to the airline.

Kid's just got bounced off a flight due to "overbooking".
I get how that was a thing back in the day when everyone had open tickets and the airline never knew who was going to turn up for which flight, and didn't want to fly empty seats they weren't being paid for. But today? When the ticket is [β¦]

@sundogplanets Smart street lighting systems enable police to do things like call the council and say "hey, we've got intelligence that there's something going down in the city centre this coming Saturday night, can you keep the lights on full brightness all night please?"

@w7voa I once got the last rental car on Gatwick airport when our plane was delayed and arrived after the last train (which we were planning to take) had left.

@VeroniqueB99 In our house that would have to be the CO alarm too. But only when roasting chicken. I don't know why.

@whitequark I've still got a tiny amount of 1970s real solder left - lead and nasty poisonous flux.
But I don't use solder very often, so this is probably enough to see me out.

@GreenFire Any ATCO who feels that they are unsafe because they are worrying about how to feed their children instead of concentrating on pushing tin MUST declare themselves sick and not work, it's in the rules.
Which means that the ones who *are* at work should be as safe as usual. And if that [β¦]

@skinnylatte There is of course a contamination percentage that's allowed in the contract between the collecting council and the recycling firm.
Which is not of course publicised. Because everybody involve wants the public to target zero contamination, not the allowed percentage.

@thetnholler.bsky.social Strange approach, banning postal voting. Round here postal voters were traditionally believed to be older and more conservative, and thus not a segment of the vote that you'd expect the right wing to try to suppress.

@subjacentish Buy a new car every five years?? WHY???
Not here. I buy a new car when the old one wears out. Which is currently 22 years old and counting. And I now use it so little that when it does wear out might hire, instead of replacing, for the few occasions each year I want a car.
