I see manual therapy as a tool in our toolbox to best suit the patient, who comes with lived experience, beliefs opinions, feelings, values and much more. As greatly mentioned here. Especially if we talk about chronic pain, the psychosocial part of the biopsychosocial becomes prominent.

Imagine someone told you that they heard doctors say that there is no point for patients in doing until at least 8 days post-stroke. And that neuroplasticity starts after that and there is not many gains after 3 months.

2024: I spent 3 months in French Guiana and got closer to #nature. Finished my MSc in #Neurorehabilitation, and now steadily #teaching.
Lots of new experiences with my better half by my side. ❣

In 2024 we were meant to spend 3 months on #Mayotte as #physios. Despite the difficult #social situation and #violence, we were intrigued.
The the worst #drought since 97 took place. And now #cycloneChido.

Thanks for the reply! 🙏🏻 It is definitely a learning point. I understand and agree: continuity of care can make a huge difference. On the top of that, we often overlook the financial aspect, that can put a lot of strain on people. And transparency is also important, in therapy time and billing.

What would make you be willing to go back? And what should your PT have done differently for your sessions?

(I am genuinely asking, despite your PTs should ask that to you).

Same team that successfully implanted other SCI and Parkinsin's disease patients in the past two years. Very promising! :-)

Back in the day, #exoskeletons seemed to be #promising, but costs have been the biggest #barrier.

#physiotherapists will work with implanted patients in the future, #spinalcord or #brain implants. Deep brain stimulation #dbs has been already used for years. Recently in #Lausanne #implants in spinal cord injury ane #parkinsons patients took place.
