The right way to represent floating point numbers in JSON, if you care about precision, portability, or reality, is a 32 or 64 element boolean array that correspond to an IEEE 754 bit value.

I would also accept a binary string, _maybe_ a decimal string, but certainly not a JSON number.

Graphic with the quotation at the top "The PSF's generous grant enabled us to provide services such as a free creche to make our event as inclusive as possible" with credit to PyCon UK. On the right side there is a black color block and it says "Python is for Everyone", and underneath that is the PSF logo. On the bottom half of the image is a photo collage of kids at PyCon UK. A white snake flows through the entire image. At the bottom left it states "Photo credit to Mark Hawkins".

Tides of Change: Real-Time Flow with Postgres, Kafka & Flink, Thu, Nov 13, 2025, 6:00 PM | Meetup Join us on November 13th from **6:00pm** for a Data Streaming meetup hosted by **[Fresha](https://www.fresha.com/)**! ๐Ÿ“**Venue:** **Fresha** The Tower, 207 Old Street Lon

My talk is on writes in Kafka, Iceberg and Postgres โ€“ and how the systems differ (but also show a progression of *how* we think about managing data as the paradigms shift) โ€“ so it's also unromantic, except for the fact that I write to learn and apparently this is odd www.meetup.com/london-real-...

As I LAUNCH myself into writing full time starting next month, I'd love to get more Patreon supporters

I've been publishing a new SF, fantasy, horror, or crime story every month since May 2015 and I haven't missed *once*, so I think I'm a good bet!

INSIDE THREAT is coming!

The sixth Rachel Peng book follows our heroine as she goes to New Orleans, finds domestic terrorists, accidentally adopts a dog, and gets extremely drunk with a sexy arms dealer. Also, murder.

Just consider the facts.
A survey of a minority reports that one in four has been assaulted.
Two-thirds report public abuse and threats.
That alone is a huge story.
There should be questions in Parliament and ministers rushing to act.
"Too weak" is naked prejudice. It isn't journalism.

Chemotherapy is starting on Monday.

We're not sure there's anything else we can say at this point - we're waiting to find out if chemo makes a difference before we know how long we're looking at.

For those who don't find out via other means:
My wife Joan has recently been diagnosed with advanced breast cancer.
She's been having lots of tests, the most recent being a PET CT scan, which confirmed that the cancer has spread and she has Stage 4, so we're not looking at a cure.

List 3 things you can talk about for 3 hours with no prep.

1. Text markup languages
2. Data transfer, from magnetic tapes through file formats through Apache Kafka...
3. Programming languages, 1960s through 1990s

(I have to stop at three? so cruel!)
