Where I'm trying to learn more is posing and looking at posing guides.
I learner a few things from a con panel. Don't stand facing the camera arms down like a prison line up.
3/4 turn to the camera. Create space between your limbs abd body. Think triangles
But there's definitely good guides for this
Lighting is also really important. You want to be well lit. Ring light that attaches to a tripod tends to be easiest. A lot of pics look bad just because they're lit with harsh top down lightong creating unflattering shadows.
Don't be afraid to use lighting filters in post either.
I'm not good at shots either, but I learned a few things.
Ditto on a tripod with a phone holder. On my phone I enabled voice controls with a timer delay.
Then I can do a bunch of different shots with slight adjustments and sort through what I like later. I discard majority of the pics taken.
I have a kit but I've been scared to try it! Does it make them sensitive to walk on?
