The air in the capital tasted bad. That was the first thing Suguru noticed as he climbed out of the car, rubbing his sweaty palms on his pants for as long as it took for his mother to round the back of the vehicle. He’d already stopped by the time she reached him, but it didn’t save him from the whip of her fingers, discreetly slapping his wrist as she bowed to the chauffeur. Suguru had already decided he didn’t like Tokyo on the drive in, watching from the back of a fancy car as the countryside was gradually replaced by various shapes in various shades of grey, his view of the summer sky slowly swallowed up by glass and steel that seemed to climb higher and higher as they travelled deeper into the city. It had felt a bit like Suguru was being swallowed up by glass and steel, too. Like wandering into a labyrinth only to realise far too late that he’d dropped his thread. Tokyo was an alien landscape; it was the domain of giants.

okay, not today. i need to write some important AN and update the art links and i can't manage it on top of finishing the chapter. posting to ao3 is easily the hardest part of writing and sharing fanfic for me, i find it very taxing, but update in the next few days 100%!
