The Universities of Cape Town and Botswana, South African Medical Research Council and Southern African Alcohol Policy Alliance launched a research initiative to collect evidence for policy and community interventions to reduce alcohol harm in South Africa and Botswana.

We're sad to hear that the Eurocare office will close. It is a stark reminder of the situation in the alcohol policy advocacy field where there is hardly any funding available. We trust the organisation's many dedicated members will keep the organisation alive until new opportunities arise.

This is a hugely important editorial that sets out how UK Government proposals to reform alcohol licensing will undermine the entire purpose of the licensing system. It will explicitly move the focus from protecting public health and social order to promoting economic goals and business priorities.
