And the keys to the building, and the little bus.

Who is paying for the partial remodel is a good question. Officers who have been removed are doing the remodel , of course, lacking board approval. The fired officers apparently still control the org’s treasury.

I think it’s a private nonprofit, run by a board of directors elected by membership.
In the past they’ve gotten grants from government, I believe

It’s not their fault they’re mad sheep. They are what they are.
But they probably shouldn’t be trusted with the keys to the local Senior Center.

But that gal is nutty. Very far right wing, and sees conspiracies everywhere.

Recognizing her description as myself, I messaged her to assure her I wasn’t a danger to Homedale. I’ve lived here for 20 years. I can get references from my neighbors.
We agreed to sit down for coffee. It wasn’t unpleasant.

She had posted on the Homedale Community Facebook page, warning about “Antifa taking over our little town”. As an example she described a raspberry-haired radical in a Toyota that she saw shopping at Homedale Albertsons. I recognized the person and car BECAUSE IT WAS ME she described.

I know Helene Welch. Some time ago, I met with her. We had a nice cup of coffee together, and a friendly chat. ( I can do this, because I worked with prion- infected “mad sheep” while studying sheep diseases for U of I. )One learns patience.

It’s a mess. I have no doubt crimes have been committed, and are continuing, But Homedale cops don’t seem interested.
The local paper also seems uninterested.

The guy who has the bus says it’s there for maintenance. He has also said that the old folks need to be more independent and responsible for their own transportation. The bus was enabling a culture of dependency.

The center’s little bus is the only thing that passes for public transportation in Homedale, has disappeared. It is said to be in a Nampa driveway belonging to a guy who Helene had recently appointed to the board.
It’s as if the center’s bus was stolen.

I’ve heard some, and it’s appalling, but extremely unconfirmed.

This has been going on since late last year. The center used to be a buzzing hive of activity.

Homedale has a lot of seniors, mostly low income. The Senior Center was a significant community hub.

I live here. No one knows what’s going on.Our paper, The Owyhee Avalanche is not covering the story adequately.
There’s also an apparent fraud investigation by Homedale police, which they say is unrelated to the center’s closure.
