Tiger Woods and John Daly meme. Where Tiger Woods - looking professional - is labelled "doubly-robust control for confounding". And John Daly - looking very relaxed and smoking a cigarette - is labelled "Selection bias".

Short ribs are even better. I also have a fast version using an Instant Pot that is amazing.

The ride down along the west coast of Mexico was fun and uneventful, even through Sinaloa State and CuliacΓ‘n. If you use common sense and not bring attention to yourself, you’ll stay out of trouble. The DR is not flashy, which helps.

Yuma Arizona, last January, about to cross the border into Mexico on my way to Ushuaia, Argentina, solo, on my DR650. I was so friggin' nervous, South America seemed so far away, and I was about to leave the comforts of the US for parts unknown.....

The preliminary sequence from the H5N1 human case in British Columbia has been posted and it is not good news. The virus potentially has a quasispecies at HA residue 226 (H3 numbering). This is bad news because we know that mutations at residue 226 can increase binding to human receptors. 1/

Why are you worried about raw milk? Let them suffer the consequences of their own actions.

Because 1) public health is about everyone, even them 2) those people may give raw milk to their kids which can't advocate for themselves and 3) we cannot concede these small erosion of science

When people argue for formal education (my past self included) as a fundamental cause in public health, I think of the absolute failure of (especially more recent) East Asian migrants/settlers to learn anything about White Supremacy or our history of Black-Asian solidarity/mutual aid from our US ed.

Major biomedical funder NIH poised for massive reform under Trump 2.0 Sweeping changes and more research scrutiny could be on the way for the US National Institutes of Health.

I think one of the biggest concerns I have with a RFK Jr. HHS is how this affects research funding. Will future funding grants on vaccines dry up, even after the breakthroughs in vaccine technologies we’ve seen in recent years (mRNA, viral vector, protein adjuvant….)?
