AI slop is so common that it changes my own writing. I have always been influenced by the things I read, and could see echoes of that in my own hand. Now I feel the familiar AI lilt is creeping into me.

We have trained the AI, now the AI is training us. "That is not only ironic. It's devastating".

Other Norwegian persons showing up in these emails have ended up in the sharp end of corruption investigations. Maybe its time to give Santa a look.

So, apparently a person from my old school is mentioned in the Epstein files - Geir StΓ₯le Frantzen; fmr Findus owner.

That Findus brand was later sold to Lion Capital. Whose founder Lyndon Lea, oddly enough, is ALSO in the Epstein files.

Is there some law firm willing to pick up Jane Doe's case after her previous law firm was too chickenshit to stand by her? I obviously don't have the full background on the case, but what little I have seen has been heartbreaking, and the girl should have legal help.

LLM's are of varying quality, but the "AI overview" in Google is...bad. Really bad. It hallucinates a LOT.

"There's Nothing I Enjoy More Than Acting In The Theater" - Ian McKellen EXTENDED INTERVIEW
YouTube video by The Late Show with Stephen Colbert "There's Nothing I Enjoy More Than Acting In The Theater" - Ian McKellen EXTENDED INTERVIEW

I’m having a hard time thinking of an interview between two human beings I enjoyed more than tonight’s interview of the great Ian McKellen by the great Stephen Colbert. Every moment of it was a pleasure that I highly recommend… but then came the most REMARKABLE ending that you really HAVE to watch.

So I don't think everyone in Epstein's sphere is an abuser, though some clearly are. But what has become very visible is how desperate some people are to hang out with the rich and powerful, and how quickly they sell out any principles. That stuff is corrosive as hell.

I once had the great joy to share a swim with my then young son and a sea turtle in the Seychelles. We'd given up seeing one, it was off season. Then suddenly it was there, foraging on the seaweed like nobodys business. Still makes me smile.

Yep. They are called "luggs" (or local "lugger"/dialect "lugga"). Almost forgotten skill now. Several layers of fabric or felt wool under the sole and optionally over. Great, but a) only for dry/hard snow and b) not very durable. lasts one winter, typically, before worn though

In Norway that thing is so common it has it's own name: Skare. Wet snow that's frozen so you can walk on it. When I was a kid our moms used to sew footwear for it; reinforced woolen socks. They weigh nothing, and you can run on top of the snow. Feels like flying.

I've always had a good impression of Canadians. I'm sure they have the same issues as everybody else; nobody's perfect - but by and large they come across as peaceful, grounded, and fundamentally decent. Only been there once - Vancouver, wonderful city - but would happily go again.

Iranians are adept at bypassing surveillance systems and outside the total block that came down mid-protest, many have internet access. There are farsi Telegram channels with hundreds of thousands of users, and the words of Reza Pahlavi got through to protestors (evidently).

18.01.2026 16:54 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

No, it's difficult. I tend to agree with you. But I feel for the protesters in Iran - the oppression system they are up against is ruthless and entrenched, and hope for some sort of help is understandable.

18.01.2026 16:46 β€” πŸ‘ 2    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

After following the Iranian protests, I can tell you that many protestors were *desperate* for a US intervention, as they were gunned down in the street. They perceived it as promised, though it never came. These things are not black and white.

If you suggest that the protests in Iran are somehow not valid or justified, you can probably jump in a lake.

Content Credentials Introducing the new standard for content authentication. Content Credentials provide deeper transparency into how content was created or edited.

Content can of course still be AI generated - the tag can be removed, images can be processed in ways that invalidate the tag and so on. But it's a start.

Not something most people know, but major AI vendors are forced by EU regulations to tag content as AI-generated. This is already done by most major providers, even if the rules are not really kicking in before Aug 26.
