I don't know why all our politicians are fixated with the past. No wonder the future is adrift.

Reform, Lib Dems, Tories all seem to be rooted in the past. As Churchill said "If you're rooted in the past you can't do justice to the future". Lol.

A shop front on Brushfield Street, early 20th century. Baskets and other wares hang in the windows. White cyclamen on the shelves.

Seen at night, the drum-shaped station building of Southgate resembles a flying saucer, its shape echoed by an 'Underground' roundel totem outside.

#OnThisday 93 years ago the Piccadilly Line was extended at both ends: from Arnos Grove to Enfield West (Oakwood), and from Northfields to Hounslow West. The super futuristic looking Southgate was one of two brand new stations: Sebastien Degardin buff.ly/oKzw1iW

Same goes for Kemi and Ed apparently. Our politicians seem to be out of touch.

Amidst tower blocks, a surviving house in the City of London with a favourite garden, 50 yards from Bank Station. A magnolia is in full bloom, left, and flowers in planters at the other end of the garden, right.

Seems the leader of the Lib Dems and Reform agree on this one. Duh!

Daniel Hannan had better watch out.

I don't support this war. Your references to carbon consumption resulting from war show it to be even more devastating.
Overpopulation, destruction of the natural world, depletion of resources, global warming and dependence on information technology mean we are heading for Armageddon anyway.

I haven't considered the consumption by military flights. An interesting question. And no, I don't hope for a continuation of war.

If flights are permanently down that will be great. Flights are frying the planet.

Three mansions, all several stories high, sit on the side of a canal. The one on the right is red brick with a line of grey bricks in stripes around the property. It has a dark grey roof and a turret on the back. A weeping willow hangs over the canal in front of the house. The one in the middle is also red brick with a light grey roof. It has white bricks on the corners and an ornate white design around the top windows. Only part of the third property is visible and it has a tall turret on the front, rising behind and above a large tree. A boat is moored under the weeping willow and another boat, with a passenger in a pink jacket, is travelling along the canal. Each of these mansions has many windows with a beautiful view of the canal.

Photo of narrowboats moored against the towpath on the Coventry Canal below a distant lock on a sunny but breezy spring day.

High winds are guaranteed to get me raging futilely at the skies, and they're on their way πŸ’¨πŸƒπŸ€¬

Mooring is tree-safe but a little exposed. Giving serious thought to emptying the lock and spending the day in there πŸ€”

Not appalling in the slightest. It is the first time in 14 years that the police have recommended a march be banned. Tensions are heightened by the US Iran war. Not to have acted on this advice would have been highly irresponsible.

A work of art painted on a wall in the former nomadic garden in Shoreditch. Kiddies' toys in the foreground including a makeshift table and two chairs.

#OnThisDay 120 years ago the Baker Street & Waterloo Railway opened between Kennington Road (now Lambeth North) and Baker Street. The portmanteau 'Bakerloo' was quickly coined and officially adopted by July of 1906. Montage of images and posters all LT Museum Collection

Looking towards the Thames between the lock gates and Dock Road bridge. Boats are moored at the end of the canal. The south bank of the Thames is to the right. A view from the point, where the canal joins the river. Down river the chimney of the London Museum of Water & Steam is just visible. Across theriver is Kew. Daffodils illuminate the canal bank. Looking down the river Thames from the end of the Grand Union Canal. A team of rowers are rowing upstream near the bank of the river at Kew where trees are illuminated by the sun. Across the river on the left are the trees of Brentford Ait in their autumn colours and behind them the chimney of the London Museum of Water & Steam. Looking back at the Grand Union Canal from the Thames south bank. The canal mouth is immediately opposite, just left of centre of the photo. A recent sculpture called Liquidity is on a promontory to its right and a bit further right three boats are moored at Ferry Wharf. A man is sitting on the wall, left, looking at his phone.
