every couple months i check in on the downtown seattle project that’s hanging a united airlines 747 between twin towers www.seattletimes.com/business/rea...
a smart thing to do as an nfl player or agent is limit yourself to playing for the raiders, cowboys, texans, dolphins, bucs, jags, or titans. limiting yourself to 7/32 potential employers is a smart thing and clearly those 7 teams have found success and bountiful free agencies because of no taxes
it is unbelievably stupid that the washington state income tax bill has broken contain like this but: they’re full of shit. notice how every agent has a different and conflicting answer? because it’s their job to do things for leverage, they know nothing about the bill. www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/...
just a little bonk, might not buff out though
it was gabe speier time again (derogatory)!
that guy should sue the asshole that said that damaging stuff about him
his quote got all mangled and aggregated but that was basically what he actually said. was more about agents telling him “can’t use that one anymore in negotiations buddy” which … yeah they’re agents
so if i have this right things they themselves said while under oath are causing them reputational damage. interesting!
when i think of the ultimate team player to come give a pep talk, i think of the guy who broke the code and loudly claimed credit for something he may not have done
There's a former mlb gm who has a podcast that talks about this regularly. He said every front office accounts for tax differences in contract writing. It has never impacted any player's decision. They never make more at the end of the day in a no income tax state than in California or Canada.
And if everybody is full of shit on this issue for NFL sized free agency contracts, then they should be mega super duper full of shit when lawmakers try to cut taxes *to help college athlete recruiting*
Ain’t nobody winning NIL wars over a 4 percent state income tax difference!
one very basic problem with all this: athletes only play half their games in the state they live the rest gets tagged for taxes from the state and even city level on game checks. so in states with no income tax, your athletes aren’t funding you but they are funding pretty much everyone else
since this is coming up in washington because of an income tax now: everyone who uses this excuse is full of shit. it comes from agents looking for any bit of leverage and people get suckered by it every time
he doesn’t think this will be as bad as the subprime crash and considering his record we’re probably screwed
