sometimes I think I need to be warmer to him, and that's probably true, but that's just not a thing I was raised with, and it's always been hard for me, something I'm realizing now.. but I've always done my best with him, taking hikes with him, even insisting on vacations together, the three of us.

he's been with us for 15 years, and he was probably 3 when he was adopted... he definitely had a hard childhood, he's been carrying a beebee that still shows in XRays, and he's always been standoffish and always refused to sit in a lap for long.

it was devastating to see he lost a pound (15.5 to 14.5) on Friday, and we thought we could bulk him up.. vet said try anything, he got hamburger, chicken, even made him ribs for his birthday on Sunday.

there are times when he seems alert and ready to run up the staircase, I had to practically tackle him to stop him, which is what makes this so hard. But, he can't eat anything; he lost teeth this month making chewing very hard, his trachea is constricted and can't keep anything down but small bits
