Not enough people are talking about the actual biggest political story in North America this week.

A majority of voters in the Yukon voted (in a non-binding plebiscite) in favour of moving to a ranked-ballot voting system.

Squirrels, along with many other animals that lack full cheeks to create a strong suction seal, rely on physical principles like the meniscus effect (adhesion & cohesion) & inertia to drink water. They don't lap water in the same way as a dog or cat.

Here, we can see the meniscus effect. #mammals

At the end of the day I'm not sure how much difference it makes. But it is striking to put out a budget that axes a luxury tax on yachts and adds a co-pay for refugee claimants accessing drugs and dental care.

Here's the biggest PSE story you haven't heard yet: the Canada Student Grant for low-income students is being cut from $4200/year to $3000/year as of next August. It's implicit in the budget tables but the government is too chickenshit to actually say so directly.

The fact a *single* Amazon full-time employee requires SNAP benefits should be a crime. The fact Amazon is the largest employer of SNAP recipients is a disgrace. Jeff Bezos shouldnt be that rich; he should be in jail.

On this day in 1926, the Balfour Report was released. It declared that Britain and its Dominions were constitutionally equal. The findings of this report were made law with the Statute of Westminster in 1931. This shift granted Canada further independence from Britain.

A color-coded map of Canada titled "WINTER TIME ZONES" with subtitle "First Sunday in November to second Sunday in March." Shows six time zones divided by thick colored lines: yellow for Pacific Standard Time (PST, UTC-8h) in the west; green for Mountain Standard Time (MST, UTC-7h) in the central-west; light blue for Central Standard Time (CST, UTC-6h) in the central area; pink for Eastern Standard Time (EST, UTC-5h) in the east; light purple for Atlantic Standard Time (AST, UTC-4h) in the Maritime provinces; and dark purple for Newfoundland Standard Time (NST, UTC-3h30) on Newfoundland island.

Clock icons mark each zone with abbreviations and UTC offsets. A small inset clock shows UTC (Coordinated Universal Time). Legend indicates solid lines as legislated boundaries and dashed lines as observed but not legislated. Includes note: "**Most of SK in Yukon**" in yellow area, and "**Central Standard Time**" in light blue.

Today marks the end of Daylight Saving Time as many parts of Canada turned the clocks back one hour.
Did you know the first place in the world to enact DST was Port Arthur, ON (Thunder Bay), or that Newfoundland once tried "double daylight saving"?
This is the story.
