being straight forward and being cruel are two different things. You will inevitably hurt people's feelings in a creative environment, it happens. But you do not need to cut people down, make them feel small, hurt their self worth as a creative and person.

Oh my god the PayPal call was SO FUNNY. The guy on the phone was like "We don't allow processing payments for explicit material."

So I hit him with "So if I were to go and purchase a copy of Game of Thrones online, my payment would be blocked?"

I think it clicked for him then.

It really is encouraging if you think about it. Wikipedia is incontrovertible evidence of the natural human impulse to cooperate, build something for their community, aggressively pursue knowledge, and mutually preserve it. THAT is human nature.

If you didn’t know that the Myst series has some awesome lore to it: now you do.

YMMV, of course, but The Book of Ti’ana, in particular, is one of my top five books ever. It edited my brain chemistry. I read it so many times I had to buy it again because I obliterated the spine.

I recommend.

I'd much rather be called than text message someone for months on end. I'm old that way. Used to spend every night on the phone with friends in the early 2000s. Texting feels so impersonal. A lot of younger guys now will text for 8 months and then never meetup irl or VC. I miss the 90s.
