A perfect way to put it, honestly!

It is (unsurprisingly) so near and dear to my heart—a classic example of a sequel that is simultaneously familiar and yet also WILDLY different from the original in ways you don’t really clock until after you’ve played it. My favourite Myst game, and yet the least Myst-like Myst game! It’s wild.

I love that they feel like spiritual successors to the David Mattingly covers! Zoe's really knocking it out of the park with these 🙌🏼

that's the one! not the cheapest, not the fanciest, but a perfect workhorse for this kind of thing.

depending on how cocky I'm feeling I may or may start out with a super rough pencil outline to feel out proportions, but then I dive in and block out big shapes, deep darks, and slowly render it out from there!

These are pretty old at this point, but some process shots I took a while back:

exactly how I feel about it, they're surprisingly forgiving once you get a feel for them!! These studies are just gorgeous.

I sketch almost exclusively in ballpoint pen nowadays, and it's still my medium of choice for plein air studies:

@gilespink.bsky.social always told me Bermuda was essentially Riven, turns out he was CORRECT

I did the opposite of this once where I accidentally saved my print files at 72dpi, and before I caught it I had just printed a bunch of zoomed in Elsa arms hahahahaha
