Why do so many retail jobs require an assessment to apply?

Second job hunt update.

I have an interview. It's a video interview with pre-recorded questions. But it's an interview.

It's egregious that my resume won't even get submitted until I take their massively flawed assessment. I'll never get a second job if my interview starts with me calling out their bull shit.

Words mean nothing. Apparently. And neither do dictionaries.

I was listening to an old playlist the other day and Anything Can Happen by Ellie Goulding came on. It's on there because you asked people on Twitter to pick a time stamp and you'd pick a lyric from your playlist. It was a funny response and gave me a song. Thank you for sharing everything you do.

That is disgusting, I'm sorry we're that horrible.

My operational experience puts me above a huge percentage of executive level employees, yet I make a fraction of their salaries. And they think that I need an assessment. That I don't get paid for. How about I get to assess their executive salaries and determine if they're worth it first.

I have 30+ years retail experience, much of that was two jobs it tallies closer to 50. Toys R Us created a position across all of its stores, based in part on my methodology, then used that to update their stocking and receiving software, which they later sold. None of which I was compensated for.

If I wasn't struggling and fixing my own dumb ass mistakes I would, but I can occasionally tip on the free page.

So I'm looking for a second job, and since my experience is mostly retail and my hours are limited to off hours schedules, I'll have to work for someone big, but forcing me to take an assessment before I can fully apply? My time is valuable. You need to pay me. My resume is all you need.
