Tonight, I will vote to block arms sales to Israel amid the famine in Gaza.

Starving children and innocent civilians to death is a moral atrocity that cannot abide the conscience of those who believe in human dignity.

The Netanyahu administration must change course.

I just dropped off homemade chicken salad sandwiches & Gatorade at the neighborhood food pantry. Everything I brought was taken in just minutes. Food scarcity is already a real issue. And this terrible bill will make it a lot worse for a whole lot of people....

A concentration camp, but with alligators The rollout of Florida’s β€œAlligator Alcatraz” isn't just about implementing a sadistic immigration policy. It's about showing it off

A concentration camp, but with alligators. Don't look away.

The Big Ugly Bill is hideous & we must use it to defeat the MAGA GOP next year.

But what he's doing to asylum-seekers & immigrants is where we are becoming an authoritarian regime.

I agree with Dalton's GOP Rep. Carpenter.

Ximena is a young woman who was brought here through no fault of her own, who only knows a life in Georgia, and has worked hard to contribute to her community. Ximena should be released.

Arresting a mayor & a judge, snatching students who dare state their opinion off the street, running roughshod over due process. These are authoritarian tactics that are un-American & ultimately render us all unsafe.

Silence is not an option. We must raise our voices, save our nation & ourselves.

Pope Francis led by example, centering his life and papacy on being a voice for the less fortunate. He inspired us all to better embody the teachings of Christ: love, compassion, and justice.

Gwen and I are joining Catholics and Christians around the world in mourning his loss.

Before the election, I warned that there is no safe haven under authoritarianism.

If they can ship Kilmar Abrego Garcia to a foreign prisonβ€”accused of no crime, with no trialβ€”they can do it to anyone.

Americans of conscience must stand against this now.

Mr. Abrego Garcia was illegally abducted by the Trump Admin and, by their own admission, wrongly deported to El Salvador. He shouldn’t have to spend another second away from his family.

I'm flying to El Salvador tomorrow morning to check on his condition and discuss his return.

Message from the Sackets Harbor Principal
As the principal of these students, I need to speak plainly.
Our three students who were taken by ICE were doing everything right. They had declared themselves to immigration judges, attended court on their assigned dates, and were following the legal process.
They are not criminals. They have no ties to any criminal activity. They are loved in their classrooms. Their family has worked at the nearby "Old McDonald's" petting zoo and dairy farm for 15 years.
They lived in a house on the same road as a home ICE had a warrant for. The fact that ICE went door to door is unfathomable. The fact that our students were handcuffed and put into the same van as the alleged criminal from down the street is unconscionable. When I think of my third grader's experience, my stomach twists and it is hard to breathe.
We are in shock-and it is that shared shock that has unified our community in the call for our students' release.
We are in direct communication with our students. Let me be clear: they are not
"being medically evaluated." They are not being "questioned as potential victims."
Calling a detention center by another name does not change what it is.
We deserve better than spin and misinformation. My teachers and my students are already hurting.
Please, think about how long every hour feels for a third grader in a detention center.
The wait had already been too long a week ago.
I have no other agenda. Please release my students and their mother back to our community.

Sackets Harbor, NY is so small that there’s one pre k-12 school with 475 students. Three of those students were disappeared by ICE.

Here is a statement published today by school principal Jaime Cook:

Protests aren’t the only tool in the anti-authoritarian toolkit, but they’re incredibly important. Protests help us see each other; they make it feel safer to refuse to obey the dictator, and make it more possible for us to organize mass non-cooperation.

It’s an essential step in the process.
