Looking out over a frozen lake, where the ice is starting to rot. There are patches of dark ice all over the place showing where it’s getting thin. The sky is filled with clouds that are lit up by the sun, making everything look silvery

Dramatic sky over Lake Winnipeg last night. The ice is rotting, you can see it in the dark patches everywhere. The ice isn’t so much thin as it does break apart. Eventually, it will crack open, and we will have open water.
