A coral-like porcelain skull mask. Highly textured and sculptural, the colours are bright and fresh, with turquoise, orange, lime green and white. The skull has white wavy fins radiating across the forehead, with lime green coral honeycomb, orange anemones, electric blue glass-filled craters and a background of turquoise sponge. The mask is displayed at an angle.

DENIZ-a Turkish name, meaning “sea”. More commonly a male name, but can be for anyone.

A chaotic jumble of coral-like ceramic sculptures in a crate, just out of the kiln. The colours are bright, with a lot of orange, green and turquoise, and the white of unglazed porcelain. There are lots of textural and sculptural motifs, including waves, fans, spirals, craters, brain coral, anemones and ridges. There is a predominantly blue, coral skull mask, centrally amongst the pieces. Also, slightly out of place, a small green acorn and two scarab beetles, one a minty green, the other bright orange.

Sorry, I’ve been on holiday and got out of the routine of posting. Here are the latest pieces out of the kiln!

Thanks :) So many teardrops! I’ll be so pleased once I’ve finally glazed them all and can look for somewhere to exhibit them!

A white skull mask, made of porcelain, displayed at an angle.
The skull is covered in coral-like textures, with craters, petals and sponge-like pits. She also has a number of small finger-like protrusions, sticking out randomly, with a small group on the right hand cheekbone. She has some small, feathered, fan-like pieces on the forehead and one on the left cheek. The only colour is in glassy aqua craters, scattered mainly across the cheekbones.
The textures are delicate and lace-like.

PEARL-a self-explanatory ocean name. Just a touch of ash glaze on this one. The qualities of the fired, unglazed porcelain are so lovely, almost like alabaster.

A teardrop-shaped porcelain sculpture, held in an outstretched hand. The shape is colourful and highly textured with clusters of large yellow and orange anemone-like craters. The rest of the space is taken up with some large orange rosettes, with turquoise glass centres and smaller fuchsia pink craters, all on a turquoise pitted background.

And another. This one is named Laccadive Sea.

In my hand this time, to give a better idea of scale. My pieces are small, but highly detailed.

Painted for a wonderful patron who requested a hopeful faery... a faery of light, a faery of warmth, of love, of hope and happiness. A faery who welcomes back the light, pushes back the darkness and sings songs of wishes for the future. Happy holidays, merry Xmas, happy Yule to all.

A teardrop-shaped coral-like ceramic sculpture. It has three large, feathered, orange fans with lime green centres and to the top right, jutting out along the side, are five red, forked tongue-shaped branches. The body of the piece, mostly disguised by the sculptural elements, is turquoise sponge with a scattering of aqua glassy craters…these also make their way onto the centres of the fans.
The piece looks like a coral outcrop in vibrant colours.

Another of the 100 teardrop-shaped wall sculptures, all based on different areas of sea. This one is named Sea of Japan.

Still some more to glaze. I hope to display them all together at some point.

A teardrop shaped porcelain wall sculpture, encrusted with orange and turquoise brain coral through the main portion. The two sides have a red-orange sponge texture with emerald green craters and there is a row of short spikes along the left-hand side. It’s a riot of colour and texture

One of 100 teardrop-shaped wall sculptures, all based on different areas of sea. This one is named Ningaloo Coast.

Still some more to glaze. I hope to display them all together at some point.

A small, sleek black cat laying on her side, semi-curled, on some flat-packed boxes on a beige carpet. Luckily, the carpet doesn’t look too dirty.

No problem:) Not all of my pieces are named, but Polonia is one of my comets, and Sea of Japan is one of 100 pieces, all named after bodies of water. I’m hoping to have all 100 glazed and displayed together soon!

Website/shop is lisaseaurchin.co.uk but new pieces will take a while to get there.

… Flame Orange, with a layer of Amaco Marigold Celadon glaze…this give a slightly peachier colour, along with a gloss finish.

…dry-brushed across the tops of the texture. I don’t clear glaze over the top, this keeps the vibrancy and also the sharp details in the texture.
Of course, there are always exceptions, so the rosette-like craters in the piece in the top right of the photo have watered-down Real Orange and…
