The issue with modern contemporary sapphic romances is that it's so hard to break into and really there are only a couple authors who have. And if you don't like how they write, you're not going to have a good time. We need more varied stories from many authors published and uplifted.

These are the same people who attacked a Bishop this week and called her empathy a sin for daring to stand up for the marginalized. This is dangerous rhetoric from people who don’t even understand their own religion but will gladly use it as a tool for power.

Book cover for "Song of the Wild Knight — Song of the Squire" by LJ Amber. The cover is displayed against the sunset lesbian/sapphic flag. The cover features the silhouette of two women embracing in woodland, outlined against a sunset, one taller than the other, the shorter with obviously long, elven ears. Scattered around the glade are pieces of armour in green, a white dress, a pair of glasses, and the hilt of a sword with a curved, moon-shaped cross guard. The title and author's name are depicted in warm, orange hues, while the scene contrasts the bright, golden oranges of the sunset with the dark greens and browns of the forest. It looks warm, intimate, but not intrusive, and feels as though it was painted with a feminine gaze. The book blurb for the novel "Song of the Wild Knight — Song of the Squire."

How can Elly become a knight? She isn’t ready. She isn’t quick, she isn’t graceful, and the other squires dance around her, winning every match.

Behind everyone’s perfect smiles, Elly feels like the elves are laughing at her — a lumbering half-elf woman, with ridiculous glasses.

Worst of all is Nyuvorlas. He’s swift, he’s deft, and he’s the kind of grinning, vicious bully who shouldn’t be knighted. Thanks to him, Elly knows she’ll never be good enough, never be welcome...

...And the way things are, she’ll never know companionship, either.

Yet in the depths of the forest, a mysterious woman has taken an interest in the half-elf. And if Ceistyl has her way, Elly will realise her own strength, see her own beauty, and gain the self-worth she always deserved.

A lot can change in a single, wild night.

“We see Elly not just explore new territory physically but also emotionally ... It’s touching and yet playful and I found myself really rooting for Elly, and seeing her in myself. An genuinely incredible debut by L J Amber ...”

Five stars.

“I felt the author did a wonderful job pulling us into Elly's world. She made me want to see Elly succeed and learn to love herself ... The way the author described things made me feel like I was there.”

Four stars.

Im not a Christian, but I was deeply inspired by the pleas for compassion and mercy made by the very brave Reverend Budde this week. If anyone wants to reach out to her, she can be reached here:

Some very famous books were banned in the US due to obscenity laws. Including Joyce’s Ulysses and Miller’s Tropic of Cancer. Just saying, if there was some extremist regime…maybe one with some fundamentalist views…we could see obscenity laws return.

If you’re afraid to write your book because you think its content stands no chance in the coming climate, Remember that banned books (and books victims thought the world would never see) are the only honest window we have into some of the darkest moments of history. Write the book. #booksky

As the U.S. shifts into a volatile political landscape targeting critical thinking, I want to share an important reminder to the #booksky community:

The only way to preserve literature is by collecting physical copies.

I know, Kindle users, it sucks—but your digital copy can be deleted any time.
