Rewatching #stargateuniverse and got my wife to finally give it a shot. A series she watched only 10 minutes of the first episode and unilaterally declared it the worst of all three.

We're 25 episodes in and she keeps yelling at me for not starting another one.

Easily the best of them all.

I cannot believe that tomorrow I'm just going to... work. While the world feels like it's burning around me.

Like I'm sitting here going "the f does homegrown next" mean, like we don't all know what exactly what it means.

And I just need to be... Okay with it & go about my day?

I'm terrified.

Things are absurdly, stupidly stressful in the world right now. But I'm grateful to have found one little pocket I have some control over, and can make things better for kids stuck in the same situation I was. That's enough for me right now.

I'm setting the foundation in place to fix a problem that a 19 year old me had. It's honest to goodness one of the few times I can actually answer the question, "would your younger self be proud of you?" Yes. Yes he would.

It took me a decade before I gained enough experience to have employers look past my education history. Two decades later, I still have regrets for not finishing it, despite having a fairly fulfilling career.

I'm working with a company that's trying to solve higher education transfer credit dropoff-- an issue incredibly near to me as I personally experienced it transferring out of an associates degree to a four year. I made choices then to just go into my career without finishing the four year.

General life updates: about a month into the new role. A lot of the day to day involves building out a hiring process and offboarding external contractors, documenting core business functionality. In another world, this would be boring. But today? I feel driven with purpose again.

I hear this daily from exhausted friends and frankly it's more chilling than the supporters. Tacit acceptance on the basis of "he'll burn himself out eventually" "FAFO, they voted for it."

I don't care what the reason is, I don't accept this as the new normal.

Just finished watching Gundam: The Origin (OVA version) with my wife. Her jaw is still on the ground and she's like, "IS THERE MORE?! WHAT HAPPENED TO LALAH?!"

After 10 months of being out of work/slowly stagnating contracts, I've gone full time at long last.

This market is awful. The mental toll it's taken has been awful. This last week has been awful.

Hoping steady income can at least alleviate some of this stress.

@snipe.lol I just visited my parents with my wife, and since we're looking to move up this way, showed her the commuting options, return on NJ Transit last night. Trains were canceled from 8:30 pm on.

We got on the train today at 8:30am, pedestrian strike at 9:20 @ Ramsey

Oh god this was definitely me this morning. Was I Rick? Was I morty? Even I don't know.

My desk, while appearing level, was rattling during prints. So I started with ensuring it was level, improvement but still bad. Added weights on the leg bases and vibration stopped altogether.

Sometimes you have to zoom out a bit more to get to the bottom of the problem. Def getting a heavier table

Okay huge print quality increase in an unexpected place. In a highly unscientific way, I set up a RPi with a tilt sensor from an old game project, put it on my table and watched the simulation for axis shake during a calibration print. Readings were chaotic, way more than belts/coils can fix
