Key points: Met police say investigation into other politicians is ongoing. Gill sought to recruit multiple MEPs including 4 British ones.

The judge gave strongest possible quotes about the gravity of the crime and the damage done to public trust.

BREAKING: Nathan Gill is sentenced to 10 & a half years in prison after pleading guilty to eight charges of bribery from a Russian agent.

The "ultimate source" of the funds came from "a close friend of Vladimir Putin," said Mrs Justice Cheema-Grubb.

Bribery is a "malignancy" at the heart of British public life, says judge.

The law responds with "stern punishment"

The judge says sentence is 14 years prior to deduction of guilty plea.

"The gravity of this case elevates it to the upper echelons of the normal range."
