Love to learn from women, love to be a woman, love to think of all the amazing things we will do in the future to fight for one another.

Happy International Women’s Day!

As these bills move to the State Senate, I’m optimistic we’ll be able to deliver for Wisconsinites and ensure everyone has access to clean water. Keep contacting your senators to make sure this bill becomes law this year.

Access to clean drinking water is essential, and PFAS contamination remains a serious challenge across Wisconsin. I was grateful to see bipartisan votes for legislation on PFAS remediation in the Assembly.

Our work is far from finished, and my Democratic colleagues and I are up to the challenge. These wins are just the start — a better future is on the horizon.

Looking back on last week’s floor session, I am immensely proud of all that we did to pass Gail’s Law and postpartum medicaid expansion. Years of persistent advocacy resulted in securing these wins for women and families.

This is the last night of the legislative session and Republicans have made it clear that they’re ready to gavel out early for an extended vacation. Even with some wins, there is still so much to do.

Assembly Democrats were unified, determined, and frankly, relentless. I am so proud to have been part of this moment and so relieved that we will soon see this critical bill signed into law.

Moms and their families, advocates across the state, and Legislative Democrats fought for postpartum Medicaid expansion for years. This week, Assembly Democrats refused to take no for an answer and effectively stopped legislative business to force a vote on this bill.

I want to take a moment to recognize the countless people who fought for and won postpartum Medicaid expansion in Wisconsin. This win means that women in our state will keep their healthcare for a full year rather than 60 days after giving birth. This win will save lives.

We know that these bills will save lives. This is a major win for the health and wellbeing of women across our state. I was very proud to cast my vote for these bills today, and I will continue fighting to increase access to affordable healthcare for the people of Wisconsin in the years ahead.

Postpartum medicaid expansion and a bill to expand access to breast cancer screenings have just passed the Assembly and are on their way to Governor Evers’ desk.

I wish Speaker Vos well in his retirement.

While we have many differences in our approach to serving Wisconsinites, I want to recognize his many years of public service.

We need to see these clean bills on the floor of the Assembly tomorrow. If postpartum medicaid expansion and Gail’s Law are passed, it will be an incredible win for women and the people of Wisconsin.

Today, after Democrats effectively halted business in the state legislature to force a vote on this bill and Gail’s Law, which would expand access to breast cancer screenings, Assembly Republicans have announced that they will bring these bills to the floor tomorrow.

Finally.

The people of Wisconsin have been asking Legislative Republicans to pass postpartum medicaid expansion for years and years and years.

We should be focused on legislation that reduces costs by feeding kids, supporting public schools, stabilizing property taxes, and making people’s lives better.

Rather than using today’s floor session to pass legislation that would lower costs for our constituents, they have chosen to focus elsewhere. With only a week left in session, there is still critical work to be done.

Legislative Republicans continue to prioritize culture wars over the real issues facing Wisconsinites. On the Assembly floor today, they went to every possible length to avoid a vote to protect access to abortion and the right to contraception in Wisconsin.

I loved getting the chance to meet interns from the Wisconsin Community Youth Corps and learn about some of the research they’re doing on foster care in Racine County. I’m lucky to have young leaders like them in my district and excited to see what comes next for them!

We must continue listening to and partnering with our Native leaders as we work towards a future where everyone in our state can thrive. I look forward to building and achieving that future together.

Red Apple's building is a teaching tool: Inside Racine's new STEAM school | Racine County Eye RUSD is opening the doors of Red Apple, the district's new K-8 STEAM school in February with a ribbon-cutting Monday, Feb. 9, from 5:30 to 7 p.m.

I’m so excited for the opening of the new Red Apple K-8 school! This will be a great addition for our kids wanting to engage in STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics) activities.
