That opening, with Bill Wyman's music, might be my (second) favourite in all of Argento. Gloriously deranged, top work from Pleasance and Connelly as an offbeat Holmes and Watson; and Daria Nicolodi gets to be properly mad.

Coming to Venice Noir? You can book tickets now! You donโ€™t actually *have* to as all events are freeโ€ฆbut if you put your name down itโ€™s really useful for us in managing capacity and the like!

Similarly, not an uncritical fan (I wonโ€™t forgive him for the miners) but I do miss the age of grown-up politicians with a hinterlandโ€ฆ

Classic attempt to re-invent the screwball comedy. Went on too long and the love triangle ruined it; but when it was good it was ever so good.

#NowEating Tuna marinated in honey, mustard and soy; and rubbed with crushed Szechuan peppercorns and 5 spice. Roasted broccoli on the side, but thatโ€™s not really why weโ€™re here.

Agree, they were absolutely the least glam of all of them. They were a properly heavy band that just discovered something that kinda worked for them.

I'd always thought it was an acronym based on the 2 cities that first synthesised it. But that turns out to be a myth! So, fair enough, real word!

โ€˜Almost unheard ofโ€™: experts find more music by English composer Henry Purcell Printed score and keyboard manuscript by Purcell, who died in 1695, unearthed in Worcestershire and Norfolk

Wow! Now this is a bit of a find.

I think it might be reaching a b certain age. The trousers were a little snug even back then!

๐Ÿ˜€Mid-90s, Seventies-themed party. Brian Connolly was easier to do than Rick Wakeman, because that would have meant having to get a sparkly cape as well!

It turned up in my YouTube list, probably because I'd been playing all sorts of 70s stuff and I thought...oh yeah...remember that!

Many, many years ago, I went to a fancy dress party as Brian Connolly from The Sweet. Yes, the blonde wig. Yes, the trousers.

Iโ€™m not ashamed. This is a banger of a track!

Oh no, it was never official, just me fantasy casting! But heโ€™d have been perfect.

"Outdoor chess, Rainsford"!

Fay Wray doesn't get a lot to do, but she was a dab hand at this sort of thing by now and what she does, she does well. Leslie Banks is splendidly sardonic and menacing. Shame Vincent Price never got to remake it, he'd have been perfect.

Oh my goodness! And she was in The Wicker Tree as well (which is a distinction she probably only shares with Christopher Lee)!

My goodness! We saw the last remains of the legs of the actual Wicker Man which got burned down by some idiot tourist shortly after we visited (sadly, there was a sign there saying โ€œPlease take away only your memoriesโ€ which people ignored โ€ฆ)

Same for me I think. Fairport a close second, the 1970 lineup was a great one.

The woman who used to cut my hair when I lived in Edinburgh let her house be used as a location in "The Wicker Tree". She remembered Robin Hardy in her back garden, frantically on the phone trying to raise money for a film that everybody knew was going to be terrible. It all sounded a bit sad.
