Avoid conducting any transactions over the phone. If possible, remove any SMS-based two-factor authentication (2FA), as it is less secure compared to app-based or hardware token 2FA solutions .

This incident clearly suggests a data leak somewhere in the pipeline, which raises serious concerns about the security of our data and payments potentially being exposed to third parties. It also highlights the importance of security awareness among companies handling sensitive information.

The automated caller claimed that the exact amount (!) I paid two days ago had been "refunded" and then instructed me to press "1" on my phone to process the payment again—this time over the phone 😎! Then I immediately hung up.

Last Saturday, I used an online paying service started with "Pay..." 😀to pay for services from a top 500 company based in Paris. Fast forward, today I received a call from a Parisian number (!). Suspicious that it might be a scam, I answered out of curiosity to see what they had to say.
