The much loved Fairy Pools. In the true nature of landscape photography, I started the hike with no idea if the mountain would come out of the clouds. I got up there and waited and it finally did for just a few minutes.

In the hills above Ballachulish, I followed a stone wall into the forest. I came to a ruin with a path snaking away through the forest. Nearby was this deep cut in the forest floor with a stream flowing in it. I knew if I crossed, I was leaving our world.

It’s an incredible place! It feels secret and magical and all those things that make Scotland one of my favorite places to visit.

This hidden gem in the Catskill Mountains of New York has the deepest emerald green water I've ever encountered. It isn't far off the road, but I've never seen another soul there any time I've visited.
