Haha, yes, it was quite a slog, and generally very windy. I did three days in a row too (I think 24th, 25th, and 26th) before heading off on my mammoth round-the-island trip :) (And returned to the volcano again in early and late July, when it had changed considerably!).

It was crackling and popping - can distinctly remember the amazing sound :) And yes, it was very slow, and I got a lot closer in other areas!!

It was late May - my first view after watching the damn thing on webcams for two months - hence my look of bliss!

It’s full of lovely hills :)

PS I will be wearing that smug smile while I talk 😂☺️

Have you been on Threads? Every time I go there it's things like this with 500 people angrily commenting - all these posts are bait, I'm sure of it. And it works!

Maybe US airlines will stop offering connecting flights with ridiculously short layovers! I remember searching for flights and some had 75 minutes between flights. I queued for about 120 minutes at LAX on way to Hawaii a few years back - and it’ll only be worse now.
