Yup - like putting in something specific on Amazon and them giving you a bunch of vaguely related sponsored stuff.

04.08.2025 08:12 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0So lovely with the heather! Never been to Scotland in summer before so have always missed this.

03.08.2025 21:08 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Wonderful! I have been in lower than -40ยฐC/F (thatโs where they meet!) in Antarctica. Frozen eyelashes and nasal hairs I didnโt know I even had were interesting!
03.08.2025 21:08 โ ๐ 5 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Haha that makes more sense! A quick nip outside is okay but then straight back to the warmth :)
03.08.2025 20:04 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I love watching them of the window if the place Iโm in is nice. First one I experienced in Iceland was late Nov 2020 and the cabin was so grim. It was miserable! My cabin in the picture (tiny one with car outside) was perfect :)

03.08.2025 19:54 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0We were lucky to get a couple of inches each winter - I love a good blizzard now (as long as I donโt need to drive anywhere)

03.08.2025 19:53 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Yikes! Iโve experienced about -15ยฐC at Mรฝvatn plus windchill - climbed up Hverfjall; not so wise!

03.08.2025 18:57 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Yeah, but they wouldn't want to put off the tourists visiting... Ugh! They've had so many discussions on what to do - the warning light system definitely helped. Given that to get to the beach you have to pay to park there must be some way to educate people before they go down onto it...
03.08.2025 18:56 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Thank you! Thankfully it never gets that cold. Need to start thinking about my next trip though...

03.08.2025 18:44 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Thank you! Only done it once, and not rushing back, although when I went in mid-Feb this year and had NO SNOW I think I may have to return in Jan again!
03.08.2025 18:44 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Thank you Deborah! It was very unforgettable :)
03.08.2025 18:41 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Six houses visible - black painted wooden walls with white doors and white painted windows. The whole scene is blizzardy and monochrome, with blowing snow visible in front of the houses, and some grasses just showing in the foreground. Between the first and second house it's possible to see a pointy mountain.
It may be beautiful, but don't underestimate how dangerous #Iceland can be.
From a blizzard in Jan 2024 - I didn't venture out very far for days on end. Interesting experience...
Thank you Adela :)
03.08.2025 18:29 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Indeed! It is a real tragedy. I've been so many times & people just laugh when they get caught in a small wave & get wet shoes. I've seen photography groups getting their tripods knocked over (& cameras down into the sand & salt water) - with guides that should know better... They've been lucky ๐ฌ
03.08.2025 18:29 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Oh gosh how ghastly to have been there. I know one of the cabin owner farmers who lives there - they end up having to get involved - not nice for them either ๐๐ฅ
03.08.2025 18:05 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I think that would help. Bit grim but so is dying from being dragged out to seaโฆ
03.08.2025 17:37 โ ๐ 3 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0They need to have a sign showing details of each person killed I think - the signs and lights clearly donโt work to discourage everyone from going to the waterโs edge. Itโs as if some people are playing dare with the oceanโฆ
03.08.2025 17:36 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Thereโs a massive light warning system with green, amber & red, brought in a couple of years ago following a couple of deaths. But still people donโt understand the sneaker concept & go right up to the waterโs edge when theyโre the normal waves. Iโve seen so many people surprised by sneakers :(
03.08.2025 17:35 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0They were installed about two years ago, if I recall correctly, after a couple of deaths in quick succession. Seemed to have helped, but there have also been some incidents that fortunately didnโt result in deaths. People ignore the signs ๐คท๐ผโโ๏ธ๐คฆ๐ผโโ๏ธ๐ข
