✨morning campers! my newsletter subscribers got first dibs on this rook screenprint I found recently that I did in 2017. They snapped up the first two & there are just TWO left, signed, numbered, dated and mounted ready for framing

The cover of The Summer Goddess by Joanne Hall, art by Ken Dawson

The image shows the back view of a cloaked (but not hooded) warrior with her sword out. The is standing on the shore of a lake. There are mountains in the distance. Celtic knotwork decorates the corners of the cover.

TL;DR Labour's policies:
🚨Increase use of irregular routes
🚨Increase human trafficking
🚨Increase number of people forced to be undocumented
🚨Force people into deprivation
🚨Leave, particularly women and children, at risk
🚨Cost more than current policies
🚨Violate international law

NHS official pushed to add patient data to Palantir platform whilst also advising company

A lobbyist who worked directly for Peter Mandelson, on the Palantir board, and on the board of *four* NHS trusts.

Lobbying the NHS to hand over even more patient data to Palantir.

This absolutely stinks. Get Palantir out of the NHS. Sign my petition:

I pulled it back and struck again with the flat, making more of them recoil; the blade caught another and cut it, sent it twitching, it to the floor. The maw puckered at me, grotesque in its eagerness, and I slammed a boot down on a tentacle that was winding close to my booted ankle, skidding as the metal rasped over the stone. Then there was nothing left between myself and it.
   Right, you rotting beast.
I could see its flank clearly now; the open maw, the buds of new tentacles. And I could see where it was layering up defences, a thickening of metal and stone to protect itself against me. But the spidery tentacles came again; more of them emerging from the outermost sides of the maw. An eye opened above it, the raw facets of some long-forgotten crystal. And then, I had an idea.

It is Book Quote Wednesday and the word is 'open'. This snippet from the Fight Like A Girl #1 re-issue comes from Danie Ware's story, 'Unnatural History'. The book is on pre-order, launching at Eastercon.

Graphic with blue abstract background and book cover of Wiz Duos 2 next to a quote from novella "Bring Me Home" by E.M. Faulds. The word "open" is highlighted in the text.
Text reads: β€œWe’re going to regreen this world, starting here. It’s not
going to be without its hardships. Each of Us has made sacrifices. You can walk away; I won’t keep any of you against your will. But right now, you have to make a choice. A commitment. Okay?”
And she left the circle, nodding to Harro.
He stepped in, something hessian in hand. β€œYour mobiles, please and thank you very much.” He went to Phoebe first, holding the seed sack open. She pulled her phone out of her pocket.
They’ll isolate you. Cut you off from the outside world. Be prepared. That’s what they’d told her. Still, she hesitated for a second. Her lifeline to her family in Alba, splash feeds, all her friends, almost all help.
She stretched out her hand and put her phone in. Harro grinned at her. There wasn’t a glimmer of malice, but he was enjoying himself, that was for sure. After he’d been round with the sack, another Us member passed him a small handheld device with a little old school LCD screen. β€œNow, you all told me you had no implants when you joined the convoy. We’re going to make sure you weren’t telling me a lie.”

Without the walls to obscure his view, he could look down the slope of the headland to the town. The river mouth was a natural harbour, at least for ships with a shallow draught, and the town was perched right where it met the sea. It was far less impressive when you realised most of the buildings were derelict. You could tell which were still in use by the way the corrugated iron roofs were patched. Those open to the sky had already been completely cannibalised. One day there would be no more usable roofing material left. Perhaps then some would have to be salvaged from the jungle.

The eye was never drawn to the town, however. The river stole the show. A river of rust―harsh orange with the glint of an oily film on the surface.

In Owain, or The Lady from the Fountain, the eponymous hero rescues a lion from a serpent. The beast repays his kindness by becoming his loyal companion, fighting at his side against many foes!

Cover art by Ben Baldwin for The Green Man's Heir shows a carved wooden face made from oak leaves, with a spark of emerald light in the dark eye sockets.

Book extract reads: Someone shook me awake. Brutal fingers dug into my biceps, lifting me up from the mattress. I opened my eyes and yelled. The Green Man’s leafy face was inches from my own, and the rich, earthy scent of the woodland filled the room. His emerald eyes bored into mine.
I went rigid with shock. I blinked and he was gone, letting me fall back onto the bed. I was gasping for breath as though I’d just run a mile, and my bitten leg was burning. As I reached for the cream on my bedside table, my hand shook so much I knocked it onto the floor. Swearing, I reached down to retrieve it.
At least that soothed some of the searing pain. It wasn’t just my leg that was hurting though; my upper arms ached viciously. The half-light of the moon through the sloping skylight showed me bruises already darkening on the pale skin above my tanned forearms. The marks of gripping fingers.
This hadn’t been a dream. The door to the living room was open and I knew for certain I’d closed it.
