Yeah, the DS version of the engine is split into two parts, a 2D engine (which is almost the same as on GBA) and a new 3D engine, which seems to be based on their Onyx engine! At some point I might want to look into these more, but sadly most of these DS games were generic licensed ones.

Caught up with the Direct now and no Rayman as expected. Not even "Rayman Legends The Ultimate Definitive Edition Deluxe" for Switch 2 😛 I still hope Rayman 2 comes to NSO soon though as I'd love to try out the N64 version! I've played all other versions besides that.

Sadly this is also the first Nintendo Direct in a long time I won't be able to watch live, but still hoping for some good announcements! 😄 Although I don't own a Switch 2, so maybe not too relevant to me right now lol

I don't expect anything Rayman related in the Direct, but possibly they might announce Rayman 2 N64 coming to NSO here...? It was sorta leaked earlier.

I've always wanted to try the og N64 version, and that would be a nice birthday gift to me considering the Direct is on my birthday today haha 😅

My bet would be on this being another port of the GBA version of Rayman 3. It was their go-to game to port to other handhelds at the time, with it being ported to both the N-Gage and the digiBLAST.

As I just learnt this week it seems there was going to be a #Rayman game on the Gizmondo (a handheld from 2005 which was quickly discontinued).

There is very little info besides a press release by Ubisoft where they say the "Rayman franchise will be making its debut on this new format".

Yep. Rayman 3 Readvanced doesn't include any of the game data, so it needs the ROM, and the N-Gage version has different data due to the new levels and modified graphics.

I think that's unlikely. There are multiple other leftovers from Visual Impact's other GBA games inside of RRR GBA, such as these two images, as well as localized text and more.

Also shoutouts to this leftover image that exists in the Rayman Raving Rabbids GBA game data and is for a game that was seemingly never released (no info on it exists online).

I just found out that Rayman Raving Rabbids GBA has an unused level select!

I sadly can't find a way to access it normally, but you can force it by changing the value at 055D3E in the EU ROM to 05. It'll then appear when starting the game.

I like Jak and Daxter a lot too! Especially Jak II and Daxter.

Thanks 🙂 Modding the game in the ways you mentioned is sadly very hard, so probably won't happen. Reg. the controls though, I would recommend using a program like Joy2Key to set up the controller.

Oh yeah same! The soundtrack is the thing that stuck with me the most. Tracks like Asgor'd theme are really good.
