19.01.2026 13:27 β π 1 π 3 π¬ 1 π 0More than 200,000 Danish citizens have signed a petition to buy California as a response to Trumpβs attempt to take Greenland.
They say they will provide Californians with βrule of law, universal health care, fact-based politics, and a lifetime supply of Danish pastries.β
How is it possible that the conservatives can poll ahead of labour and the lib Dems?
How short is our memory guys?
Feels like there maybe some subsidy there, unfortunately I can't yet benefit until I get my charger fitted!
Like you I'm currently on Agile, with my battery optimised around that, when I can change to Octopus Go I'll save even more money!
The real advantage of home charging is access to extremely cheap time of use tariffs, I presume you don't get this benefit from a lamppost either? It's a much greater saving than the VAT difference.
Both could be addressed with legislation.
I believe large piston engines are a better fit than turbines, and maybe even fuel cells for converting long term storaged hydrogen back to grig power, they're certainly more efficient than turbines, and not too far behind fuel cells

03.10.2025 23:03 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0From next year F1 will use 100% synthetic fuels, fossil free, a demonstration on what's possible for hard to decarbonise sectors like aviation, which can't be electrified.
F1 will develop these fuels in a competitive environment, proven historically to encourage innovation, that is what we "need"
It's a shame you feel like that, I enjoy both F1 and formula E, a future without a net zero F1 would be a worse future in my view
27.09.2025 13:54 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Formula 1 has a net zero target of 2030, ahead of most countries, I would argue that their technical innovation is a positive tool in the fight against climate change, we need an inclusive future, not one that demonises things and people, that will lead to parties like Reform getting into power!
27.09.2025 11:32 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I support the removing of VAT from electricity, but not from gas, this could be an opportunity to reduce the spark gap and encourage the transition away from gas.
Bizarrely, this could actually be a Brexit benefit at last!
Solar made the fastest energy leap in history. πβ‘ 8 yrs to reach 1,000 TWh, then just 3 to surge past 2,000. Windβs not far behind. What coal & hydro needed decades, solar did in a decade. Exponential change ignores politics & ideology β once it starts, it doesnβt stop. #EnergyTransition #Disruption

For 98% of days in the year in Britain, itβs either windy or sunny. Well-balanced for clean power β plotting this on a calendar shows how #wind and #solar power complement each other across days and seasons.

29.08.2025 20:22 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0We absolutely need to reduce our reliance on gas, the less we use the longer it will last!
And we'll need it long into the future for filling in the power gaps during periods of dunkelflaute!
Or just move the environmental levies from electricity to gas, burning gas after all produces CO2 directly, so makes sense for that to carry the cost, whereas electricity is getting cleaner all the time.
28.08.2025 21:51 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0One religion against another, as has been the way for ever.
Utterly pointless, we need to move on?
The two party system is dead, and the first past the post electoral system needs to die too.

11.06.2025 13:36 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0I am going to keep my wood burner, that's a fact, how often I use it however may reduce, particularly when I get a heat pump and I know I'll no longer be displacing gas burnt in my boiler.
10.06.2025 17:02 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0Do you know of a full "well to wheel" type analysis for wood burning verses gas burning boilers, CO2, methane, CO, I'd genuinely be interested?
Might have to drop a line to Radio 4's More or lessπ€
Passionate indeed, and I do admire that, I'm probably being a bit devil's advocate if I'm honest.
Indeed there are many GHGs, methane a very interesting one, basically that's natural gas right, so for gas boilers you have to factor in fugitive emissions too right?
I'm sorry, but do you think your ranting actually persuades people?
I think you'll find it has exactly the opposite effect!
I'm going to fit a heat pump, and you've now been convinced to keep my wood burner
Remember, I hadn't disputed there's a pm issue!
For me it's about priorities, climate change, and CO2 specifically is my priority, it's always been the CO2 claim I have an issue with.
Still haven't decided which side I believe!
When compared to climate change, yep, minor
08.06.2025 21:09 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0I don't dispute there are some pm issues with wood burning, but I consider them extremely minor when compared to climate change, which is why I dispute the CO2 claim.
