what I really think happened was that you used to get so mad when you started “frayed knot” and I would blurt out the punchline to save people from the agony and this one I didn’t even let get out of the stable. So you prob did have two jokes. I just never gave you the chance to tell it around me

I love that for the first 20yrs we were friends you literally told one joke (frayed knot). It was painfully long and the punchline was so disappointing. And then one day you tried telling me you had two and this was the other one and I just didn’t remember.

That “story” will forever be one of my fave Dick’s runs memories.
