That's one of my few major gripes with Trench Crusade, they have an opportunity to do what warhammer doesn't and humanize the "enemy" forces, and they just haven't. I want to know more about the heretics, their culture, their beliefs. Them being all evil with no humanity is lame as hell.

Not to say that TC is incredibly explicit. I've noticed people tend to split factions into "good guys vs bad guys." I think this is likely due to how the lore is intentionally biased, but an inch left for misunderstanding is an acre for fascists to latch onto

This is a really fair criticism, and one I personally think about a lot. Works parodying fascism tend to simultaneously make fascists look cool, even if they're explicitly anti-fascist (e.g. Helldivers, Wolfenstein). One could probably make some greater point about that, but I'm not that smart

What was your list and what were you playing against? Some matchups are just really rough. Also, all the factions have community-made guides with pretty good advice for list building and strategies which might be helpful for troubleshooting what's going wrong (if it isn't just bad luck)

Been getting really into CAIN lately

The two that I like (Blood & Faith, and Thy Kingdom Come) both do really different things mechanically, they've got a lot of cool stuff between em. There's also Never Going Home which is not TC but it's a weird WW1 setting, also definitely worth looking into if it wasn't on your radar already
