Pedro Arrupe, 28th Superior General of the Jesuits, died on this day in 1991. He is often credited for a renewed emphasis on justice in Jesuit education. In 1973, he said "our prime educational objective must be to form men-for-others," an idea which guides Jesuit education to this day.
