Went out to Antelope Island last night for some sunset photos but the sky was less than stellar, so I found some old friends instead. #bison #wildlife #sunset

Spotted this bull moose in the evening light at Christmas Meadows in Utah’s Uinta Mountains. Peaceful, quiet, and a reminder of why these wild places matter. 🦌🌲

A Grove of Aspen trees stands in luminous contrast to the dense conifer Forest below Wheeler Peak in Great Basin National Park, Nevada. Captured in black and white, the scene highlights the dramatic textures and light play of the landscape beneath Nevada's second highest summit.

The sun casts a warm glow over Wheeler Peak at Great Basin National Park in eastern Nevada. This remote park is known for its ancient bristlecone pines, Alpine terrain and dark night skies

Just going through some old photos and this one caught my eye. It's the top of Wall Street off Sunset Point in Bryce Canyon. To me, it looked a little like the entrance to hell.

A black and white infrared photograph of a rugged dirt road winding through a dry, grassy landscape, bordered by an old barbed-wire fence. In the background, a vast lake reflects the sky, with snow-capped mountains rising beyond. The clouds appear streaked across the sky due to long exposure, creating a surreal atmosphere. A black and white infrared photograph of the snow-covered Mount Timpanogos with sharp, jagged peaks. The foreground consists of an open expanse of sagebrush and dry grasses, with a few scattered trees. The sky above is textured with wispy, elongated clouds, enhancing the dramatic contrast of the scene.

A couple more shots from my day trip with Trent. I shot both of these with an infrared filter from @mavenfilters and they were taken from the same spot, just turned around in opposite directions. #InfraredPhotography #FineArtPhotography

Black-and-white image of an abandoned roadside diner with boarded-up windows, weathered signs advertising hamburgers, malts, hot dogs, and coffee, surrounded by overgrown brush under a cloudy sky. A leafless tree stands next to the building, and hills are faintly visible in the background. A black-and-white photo of an abandoned, graffiti-marked brick house partially covered with snow, surrounded by winter brush and trees. Snow-covered mountains dotted with trees rise in the background, and footprints lead toward the home's dark entrance.

My friend and fellow photographer Trent took me around parts of Utah I hadn't been to. These are the middle-of-nowhere places that time seems to have forgotten. These are both taken in Eureka, Utah. The photo of the old home uses an #infrared filter. #photography #blackandwhitephotography

A black and white photograph of an abandoned motel building in Last Chance, Colorado. The weathered structure has a long, slanted roof with missing shingles, cracked walls, broken windows, and a tall, rectangular facade with faint traces of a worn-out sign. Overgrown grass and scattered debris surround the building, while a cloudy sky looms overhead, adding to the desolate and haunting atmosphere.

Once a refuge for weary travelers along the lonely highways of eastern Colorado, this weathered facade now stands as a silent witness to time's passing. #AbandonedPlaces #RuralDecay #LastChanceColorado #ForgottenAmerica #AbandonedMotels #GhostTowns #RoadsideHistory #TravelPhotography #DecayAndBeauty

A black-and-white photograph of the abandoned St. Agnes Catholic Church in Matheson, Colorado. The weathered wooden structure, built in 1922, stands against a moody sky, with bare trees framing the scene. The church's peeling paint, broken windows, and leaning cross atop the steeple evoke a haunting sense of time and history.

Abandoned, but not forgotten. The St. Agnes Catholic Church stands frozen in time. Built in 1922 and hosting its final service in 1973, its weathered facade whispers stories of devotion and decades gone by. #AbandonedChurch #RuralPhotography #BlackAndWhitePhotography

Got up at 4 in the morning last March to nab this shot. Totally worth it. And just a few hours later there was so much wind that you couldn't see 200 yards. #canyonlandsnp #landscapephotography #photography #utahphotographer #mesaarch

Will getting on the National Register of Historic Places save Utah’s Abravanel Hall? A group of supporters of Abravanel Hall are mounting an effort to get Utah Symphony's home on the National Register of Historic Places. It may not guarantee the hall will be preserved, an expert says.

In September I wrote about a group trying to get Abravanel Hall on the National Register of Historic Places.

Earlier this week, the application was accepted. Here’s a look back at what the Utah group put in their application:
