People think social media is done by interns
13.06.2025 07:01 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0
Also the platforms themselves, they track you across sites. TikTok has a very uncanny ability to surface content sometimes. So someone might be looking at legitimate information online, but then get a bunch of poor quality mental health videos in their FYP

I think there are multiple issues here. One is that people will sometimes give advice without being clear it's only based on their own experience. Another is that social media encourages short snappy engaging content and that conflicts with providing good information.

The problem is that mental health services in this country are not very well funded and for more complex types of therapy people have to wait. What are they going to do in the meantime? Look for information online

If we begin by assuming students are dishonest, lazy, or deliberately disengaged we miss what else is going on (pandemic, school experiences, skills gaps, poverty, personal histories, disabilities, language barriers etc). It doesn't foster trust. Nor enable us to identify issues and find solutions
